Using beer as gifts
Question:
Robert, I would love to get a copy of the plans you used (if any) to make the wooden six pack carriers. You can email me or post it here for everyone. Thanks! – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Hello Brewing Collective: This got me wondering: Surely others out there have similar stories about giving homebrew as a gift. What did you do? Any unique ideas that would be really cool? Anyone? Cheers, and Merry Christmas to all! This year I brewed a special ale and a stout that I packaged in handmade wooden six-pak carriers. I used mahagony plywood and they turned out very nice. Also made special labels that identified the beer and said "Brewed and Bottled Especially for …… " Twas a lot of work, but I believe the 10 folks who recieved these gifts appreciated the beer and the work. Robert — All in a days Wort —- Due to high numbers of JUNK MAIL I have been forced to change my "reply too" address.

Hello Brewing Collective: I was driving home from a party this weekend, and I thought of an interesting thread for this group. The party was for some friends of mine who were celebrating their 15th wedding anniversary. We were instructed by the hosts (their parents) to bring "15 of something", and, since I usually have homebrewing on the mind 24 hours a day, I immedately thought of 15 bottles of homebrew. I brewed them a Kolsch, and bottled 15 160z bottles, and made a custom label with an OOOOLLLDDD picture on it of the two, along with some nice words of our good friendship along the sides of the label. Anyhow, it was a hit, and they really appreciated the special gift. This got me wondering: Surely others out there have similar stories about giving homebrew as a gift. What did you do? For the past 2 years I have brewed six different styles and given out "sample" six packs along with a pamplet on brewing history (even George Washington was a homebrewer) and the basic procedures. After the first time I did this it was such a BIG hit that my wife "forced" me to do it again <G and I get to keep what is not given away. Did I mention that my wife also helps with all bottling, and she is a strange on, SHE HATES BEER! (don’t get upset, that’s her only fault) Cheers, and Merry Christmas to all!

A friend of mine had a bachelor party a few months back and I brought a case of brown ale to the party. I called it Brett’s Bachelor Party Brown and created a label with a picture of a woman with the biggest set of hooters you have ever seen (downloaded from the net). There was also a keg of Bud Light at the party but no one was drinking out of it until the Brown Ale was gone (which didn’t take too long). It went over really well and the bachelor and his wife really appreciated the thoughtfulness. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Hello Brewing Collective: I was driving home from a party this weekend, and I thought of an interesting thread for this group.
