REAL ALE RECIPE FOR BEGIN
Question:
– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I am new to this newsgroup so please forgive me if this request has been posted too many times. I am originally from Northern England and love real ale, but I am starting to really miss the stuff. I have never made homebrew before but would like to try. I have seen brew cans at the local supermarket and would like to know if any of the brown ales are any good. Regardless, please could I receive some information on how to make a decent english homebrew. I live in eastern canada in newfoundland. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks …. Howard
Well, for starters Howard, if you have never brewed before, then either download my How to Brew file from Sierra (see sig) or email me and I can send it direct. That will introduce you to the basics of homebrewing. Then for a nice British Mild you need to do mail order to get some specific extract kits or do basic pale malt extract and steep some specialty grains to get the right body as well as adding some good british hop varieties. Look for the book, Brewing the Worlds Great Beers, by Dave Miller. It will tell you everything you need to know. Brewing a good British Ale is fairly easy, all things considered.
