GALLON WIN BOTTLES FOR MY HOMEBREW????
Question:
I bought a homebrew kit. I already have some 1-gallon wine bottles with screw-on caps (i.e., gallo, etc) lying around. Can I use those to bottle my beer? The guy at the shop said they might explode….

He’s right, they most likely will explode. You can only use a container that was designed to hold pressure.

It depends. I don’t think most wine bottles are designed to hold much pressure. If these are not, then the carbonation of the beer will probably break the bottles. If you’re not sure, I wouldn’t use them. John. — *** John P. Kolesar *** *** Valley Mead Brewery ***
