Disgusting yeast taste…
Question:
writes: Anybody know why my Mr Beer 2 1/2 gallon set up gives such a disgusting yeast taste when I brew? I’ve made 3 batches so far (Nut Brown Ale and (2)Pale Ale) You are drinking it too soon. let it cure and settle for at least 4 to 6 weeks and the bad taste will be gone. The yeast needs to settle completely and that takes time. there are some clearing chemicals that help but the best way is time. http://rampages.onramp.net/~rcl 214/205-2571
Hi Roy Is the Mr. Beer kit the set-up that lets you ferment, carbinate/condition, and dispense all from the same vessel? If so, then what you are probably getting is yeast bite from autolysed (dead) yeast. I have always read that you need to get the beer off of the yeast/trub material in 14 days or less or the result is bad yeast bite. Try priming and bottling the beer. I think you will have better success this way, IMHO. Mark Hafterson Don’t let your beer be a stranger. HOMEBREW! http://www.jcave.com/~dejabru/

Anybody know why my Mr Beer 2 1/2 gallon set up gives such a disgusting yeast taste when I brew? I’ve made 3 batches so far (Nut Brown Ale and (2)Pale Ale) All came out with that nasty taste and I don’t have the experience to figure it out. I sanitize everything with bleach and follow the directions. I’ve got one can of Pale Ale mix left and I don’t want to ruin this one. Please give any assistance you can. TIA. (P.S. The last batch I tried using the Booster product (Maltodextrin) and it didn’t help.) — Just another beer, please…
Why don’t you try a different kind of yeast?
