british plastic kegs

Categories: Homebrew Beer

Question:

You can use Corny Kegs as casks.. All you have to do is release the pressure vent and air can be drawn into the keg just like in a real ale cask. Unless you drink 5 gallons fast I would recommend using a smaller keg size if you can get them.. I am assuming your just needing the casks and not the complete system..you already have a beer engine right?

– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I was looking and found another company that sells these products in the UK, but under a different name. But in the UK… How much are the ones you have in your shop? I was having a homebrew with a friend who learned the art of homebrewing in the UK, and he uses one of these for bitters and milds. I rather enjoy the beer that comes out, he just keeps the barrel in the cellar and it comes out cool but not cold. The level of carbonation is very low, but i find its to my taste. So I’d be interested in buying one of these things. Are yours the 23L or one of the smaller ones? John EDME used to make a pressure barrel (23L) that worked well for British ales. These barrels were discontinued 3 or 4 years ago after EDME was bought out by someone who had no interest in the equipment aspect of EDME.  I do have two complete used barrels systems that are in the shop (Paddock Wood) for sale. There is also a company in Britain making a similar device (to fill the gap I think). We are looking into importing them, but have yet to sort out the shipping costs and general hassle. Steve

What is the name for those British plastic kegs that dont really hold pressure for real ales? Are they available by mail order?
