transporting a full carboy..

Categories: Brewing Beer

Question:

The second issue regards the laws in your area regarding transportation of alcohol. Technically, this could be considered open liquor, which is a no-no where I live. If you get pulled over, or are in an accident, there could be legal hassles.

Here in NC (USA), we can transport kegs so long as the tap is not attached. If I was moving beer in a Carboy, I’d just wrap it in a towel and not break and traffic laws during the transport ;) Cheers, Mike

Or simply keg it for the trip.  (Then let it finish fermenting in the keg, or rack it back to the carboy.) — [Apparent Rennerian 567.7, 95.9] Al – rukbat at optonline dot net

I would say Brian is being a bit of alarmist,

Umm, no, just presenting the worst-case scenarios in case the original poster had not thought of them. That way they can assess their risk-comfort level, and choose accordingly. Brian
