Real time talk.

Question:

I went a beer tasting party in Indy last night and ended up chatting with another homebrewer.  It didn’t hit me till later that this was the first time I have ever talked with face-to-face with a homebrewer. It’s always been via e-mail before.  I learned more in that hour than in all the reading I’ve done.   I know that there are a few brewers in this area. (One of our students brews)  The local rag ran a big article on homebrewing in the Wabash Valley last week.  The featured brewer was shown taking a hydrometer out of a large (open) ceramic crock of beer.  It was mentioned that our sheriff brews his own also (cha-ching!)  So, I think we are in desparate need for a club here. One suggestion:  Our church is very old and has a catacomb-like basement.  The first members of the club would be me (I am an "elder", due to a serious lapse of common sense on the part of the congregation) another elder and the pastor. (Another name for beer is "Lutheran beverage".) So why don’t we call it "Lutheran Men’s Fellowship" and meet in the basement, where all the brew stuff would be located. The atmosphere would be great!  The by-laws forbid alcoholic beverages in the fellowship hall. That leaves the basement (and the sanctuary!) as fair game… I conjecture that a brewing club could become affiliated with a larger group?  I’d like to hear the details, and any club-starting suggestions you folks could share. — "I have the FAQ, I just haven’t looked at it."
