In Quebec province, many Labatt’s products are sold in quart glass bottles. ("50" is one brand I know.) Just remember that what our beloved beer industry calls a "quart" bottles is barely more than a real pint! An Imperial quart is 40 ounces, a US quart is 32 ounces, and our "quart bottles" are 22 ounces. Go figure! : Also, my local brew store sells 500ml brown plastic screwtop bottles. : -Gary, Toronto : : Does anyone know where I might get ahold of dark brown : reusable beer bottles? : — : Quart bottles that is. : — —

Unless you are concerned about green vs brown bottles, domestic Champagne bottles work great. I’ve also collected a number of 32 oz sparkling grape juice bottles, they work fine too. They can be capped with the regular bottle caps and capper. Dick

Depends on what you want to use them for. If your just brewing beer your going to drink fast use quarts with screw caps. You can get them at any grocery store for about a dollar, they come with a liquid in them that doesn’t taste too bad after about 10 home brews. if your going to store it for a long period of time you probably want to use a champagne bottle and cap it. I’ve been using 10 king cobra bottles for half of my batch, for at least 10 batches and I haven’t had a problem yet, just sterilize the caps and screw them on real tight… My friends think I suffer from insanity, truth is I enjoy every minute of it…

Dave – Try establishing a relationship with your favorite bartender. I don’t know about quart bottles, but I have a friend who stashes the 22oz bottles for me behind the counter. I just check-in with him a few times a week, collect my empties, take ‘em home, and sink them in bleach water until I’m ready to bottle. The price is right….
