Bierhaus International in Erie, PA

Categories: Brewing Beer

Question:

Has anyone tried the home brewing kit from Bierhaus International in Erie, PA?  I live in PIttsburgh, PA and I’ve seen ads from them.. but I wonder if the equipment and supplies are decent.  They want like $80 for a starter kit….

I considered ordering from them, but decided against it after shopping around and discovering that their prices aren’t particularly good.  For not much more, you can get a nicer kit with glass carboys instead of plastic buckets, better ingredients, and a copy of Charlie Papazian. Bierhaus also doesn’t seem to carry things like specialty malts and liquid yeasts.  Supposedly, there’s a supply store up on Babcock Boulevard in the North Hills; I’d try there instead, or call Charleston Beer Works (800-225-2910) who sell a $99 all-glass starter kit and give free shipping. — PTD — (no affiliation with any of the firms mentioned) — —   Ansoft Corporation, Four Station Square, Suite 660, Pittsburgh, PA 15219                  http://skua.ansoft.com/palmer/home.html
