Question:

– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text –        Well I’m into my third batch and I’ve read charlie from cover to cover and now i want to know more….    …Please recommend another book or periodical to expand my knowledge of this craft? …. There are two books I’d recommend.  The first is Miller’s The Complete Handbook of Homebrewing.  It’s title and cover make it look like a beginner’s book.  It’s not, instead it is chock full of very helpful information. The second book is George Fix’s book, Principles of Brewing Science, if I remember the title correctly.  In any case, the book is probably the best book on the chemistry and microbiology of brewing processes for the home brewer.

Could someone post or email me the full details of the Miller book (ie ISBN, publisher etc)?  I haven’t been able to find this locally and would like to order it… [and details of other suggested books - if fact if people are willing to email me details I'll compile a list and post it] Michael — ADVERT: Watch for my Masters Thesis – "The Co-relation Between Barbie(tm) and Anime With Respect to Unrealistic Role Models for Young Girls"

Well I’m into my third batch and I’ve read charlie from cover to cover and now i want to know more.  I need some of that good old net wisdom that I’ve grown used to.    Please recommend another book or periodical to expand my knowledge of this craft?  Any recommendations are gratiously accepted.    Not worrying, honestly!    "Deja-brew.  We have all been beer before. I use Dave Miller’s _The_Complete_Handbook_of_Home_Brewing_ and Gregory Noonan’s _Brewing_Lager_Beer_. The later is an exceptional book that gives a good deal more technical information than Miller’s (they are both great. I just think Noonan’s is more detailed). Don’t let the title put you off. Most of what Noonan talks about is _not_ specific to lagers. — Paul Bash                                                   Techware Design

I would start with the Zymurgy special issues. There are 5 or 6 of them, covering the following special topics in detail: Yeast Hops Troubleshooting All-grain brewing Beer styles Brewers’ gadgets In addition, there are lots of recipes in the back of each issue. They are very handy to have as reference materials. By the way, they are about $8.00 apiece.
