I realize its haloween, but just make sure you realize that bloody doesn’t mean the same thing in Australia as in America… a ‘bloody big spoon’ is a British/Australian way of saying ‘a super huge spoon’. ‘A big bloody spoon’ indicates a large spoon covered in blood… Which might be appropriate for the next day or two, provided it is *fake* blood… "Loon Atick" <ds…@mn.rr.com> wrote in message

Minced Beef is what I use, and thickened cream. That recipe sounds nice, but a little spicy and hot for me

Yes, I have. Almost lost conciousness from the reflex to retch. Australia is a wonderfull country, but has some of the most bizzare food. Never before had I heard of anyone putting beets on a hamburger, and I told you about my impression of vegemite. That covers most of what I can actually describe. The funny part is that we found a really good resteraunt in Melbourne by going where the doorman suggested we *wouldn’t* want to go- they had real authentic Itallian food, instead of the standard Australian mix and match. But even on a vegemite diet, you wouldn’t gain weight the way you would on a penutbutter diet… Okay, I gotta know now, what is your favorite food? Me, I’ll go with pizza with pepperoni and Itallian sausage.

Somebody told me once it is something like concentrated vegetable extract of some sort- take your basic green vegetables and extract all the protien and smear the protien on a piece of bread and that’s pretty much what vegemite is, I think… "_Demon_Eyes_" <a…@nowhere.com> wrote in message

When you say ‘mince’ what is that exactly. We cook hambruger, mix in marinara sauce, and alternate cheese and beef. My wife makes the worlds most excelent lasagne. (I never learned to cook, but coming from a Scottish heritage that might not be such a bad thing…)

What is "mince"? I assume that is meat….right? What kind of cream do you use? I cook and cool the lazagne noodles and set them aside. Then I brown two pounds of ground beef and drain any fat from it. LOL….oh, and a little cayenne pepper to zip it up) After everything is cooking nicely, I chop up some pitted black olives and maybe some mushrooms, and add those. I simmer the sauce for about an hour and cool it. I take a 16 oz. container of cottage cheese and whip in a raw egg for texture and add some parsley in there. In a big pan, I put down the first layer of noodles, spread the tomatoe meat sauce, then spread the cottage cheese mixture over that, and then a ton of mozarella cheese. Vegemite? What is it, Demon? You’ll have to fill me in. Last night my husband took me to an Aussie pub for dinner. I didn’t order anything out of the ordinary. I had a tenderloin filet with chutney. I didn’t like the chutney, so I was referred to as a "boring bloke"!! LOL!!! I almost ordered the shepherd’s pie, but I do make that one myself. I drank Dingo Red beer and just loved that!!! We had a wonderful appetizer which consisted of crab/artichokes/cheese and something called "simire"…not sure of the spelling. It was served in a hot crock and we put it on bread. MAJOR DROOLING!! I couldn’t get enough of it!! We are still trying to figure out what "simire" is, Demon. Can you tell us??? We are dying to know. Of course, I’m sure I spelled it wrong. WONDERFUL MEAL! I’ll come join you any time for dinner, Demon! I started thinking about our trip to Australia, and attitudes we saw regarding weight and food, and something occured to me- Where do you eat and gain weight there? Australia i general seemed a nice place, but the food was just so hard to stomach. America we see heavy people chowing down on penut butter, I have a very hard time imagining anyone chowing down on vegemite! If we manage to come down under again you have *got* to show us where the good places to eat are!
