Question:

Yes, British sports events are going ahead, but that doesn’t mean Irish ones will.  Ireland is actively tackling the spread of Foot & Mouth whereas Tony Blair (who I was a fan of until his handling of this affair) comes accross as being more concerned with getting tourism & business back on track in the short-term rather than controlling this awful epidemic.

hehe, he was on the news this morning and said that the FAM diseases was only happening to about 1% of the livestock.  then said that 90% of tourist areas are open.  not that i know anything about him or his politics, i just thought he was a little full of shit saying only 1% was affected and that the media is blowing out of proportion.  if so, then why is stonehenge closed to the public (last i heard it was, dont know if it has reopened) along with a few other places from what ive read.  but you know i could be completely wrong, you never know whats true anymore in the media. — "I think the important thing to retain though life is optimism.  It doesn’t have to be something that you necessarily get though Christianity.  You just have to feel that way about life."           –Adam, U2, 1983

Well I’ve sent a mail to MCD, the organization company. Here’s their answer, on my question about F&M: Hello, There is no way we can say if the concert will be cancelled or not but as it stands today there is no intention of cancelling it. Fingers crossed! I actually haven’t heard those rumours about the football games being postponed.  Again, because of the way things are going here (it seems like there has been no spread of the disease past a single case in Co. Louth) I would expect the games to go ahead as planned.  However, if the disease spreads, then it is quite possible that Ireland will postpone the matches. Out rugby team has already pulled out of the six nations championship. Please note this is all speculation on my part!  I have no hard facts or anything like that to go on, it’s just my (optimistic) opinion. –Dean. So what do you think, will Slane be cancelled? And what about other matches of Ireland this year, in June they will play Portugal. Are they all going to be played in November? It’s impossible, cause the draw for the Worldcup is in December and all runners up in European groups have to play a tie-break. Or will Ireland be playing somewhere in (for example) Iceland? A second Slane date (if possible) is set on Sep 1st, the same day as Ireland v. Holland. Is FAI trying to postpone so the Irish team can go to this concert? marcel "A boy called Trampoline, you know what I mean?" Tont Blair is an arsehole full stop. I thought at the last election I was voting for a Socialist government, a government for the people, instead we got an egotistical arsehole who couldn’t run a piss up in a brewery.
