Keg parts?
Question:
Well, actually, it is if you have not enough lids, like me!
LD, I’ll swap you a liquid out fitting for a lid!
Lids $7 plus shipping http://www.rcbequip.com/prod4.htm Cheers, Mike

LD, I’ll swap you a liquid out fitting for a lid! -Brett – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Those are the expensive ones, I can get them for $9 including the poppet and o-ring, plus actual shipping, if you’re interested. Email me at this address! I can get an entire keg for $12.50 + actual shipping. Sure, shipping’s a bit more… but $19 for an entire keg vs. $11 for a part… I’ll take the keg
And it could have another problem. Most good HBS will sell replacement parts. A poppet should be $3-5. A post is what would cost in the $10 range. And if the $12.50 keg has another problem, I now have 1 working keg (swap parts), and a non-working keg with lots of other spare parts for $2 more. I cannot spend $10 to replace a part when $12 will get me a whole new keg. Is the post the problem, or the poppet inside the post??? It won’t be a new keg, and could be problematic as well. Having replacement parts like poppets and rings is part of the kegging deal. Now OTOH, having too many kegs is rarely a problem. Cheers, Mike

It will certainly not say Corny on the side, there are many types of kegs. If it does say Cornelius on the side, then you need parts for that. You might find the article I wrote on keg cleaning and rebuilding of interest www.ipass.net/~mpdixon/homebrewing.htm You can link to it from that page. Cheers, Mike

Spend $800 to replace the engine in your used car, or $1000 for a new car, which may not work perfect, but can likely be fixed with parts with your old, broken car… AND you have other spare parts. New keg for me.

Corny
Response:
ball lock or pin lock?
Ball lock, corny keg. I’m the master of not giving all the info needed.

ANyone know where I can get cheap keg parts? My cider has had a wierd metallic taste, and I finally dumped it last night, took the keg apart (corny) and cleaned it. The liquid out valve that houses the poppet is corroded somehow… it’s tiny, and I’ve no idea if that could give my whole batch a metallic flavor, but the flavor is there, and this part is pitted… so I’m not taking any chances. The corrosion is kinda deep, and the ’socket’ that it screws onto has some dried on ‘gunk’ under where the corrosion was, so it looks like some cider got in there and dried, etc…. Well, anyone know where I can get that part real cheap? I only paid $5 for the keg (and $18 for shipping
so I dont wanna spend $10 for the part. Or if anyone has any extra, I’d be willing to trade something for it… let me know…
Response:
I’d try http://www.williamsbrewing.com . They have tons of kegs parts, and they don’t charge an arm & a leg for them, like most places do. As a matter of fact, I just ordered some keg parts from them today. They had the best prices I’ve found so far. HTH, Herb G.
