alcohol
Question:
just a curious question: how much calorie in a bottle of beer…and a black label double…. which one is better for a person trying to loose weight if she/he has to pick one
First of all, a gram of alcohol has 7 calories. A shot of whiskey is mostly alcohol, and being 40% alcohol, it has about 80 calories. Most beers, on the other hand, have about 150 to 200 calories and have about the same amount of alcohol. The extra calories come from sugars and other carbs that are in beer. Go with hard liquor.

just a curious question: how much calorie in a bottle of beer…and a black label double…. Should say right on the can. Nope.
Hmmmm. Many do. which one is better for a person trying to loose weight if she/he has to pick one The one with the least number of calories. Duh. Not a "duh", really. I hate lite beer. It tastes terrible.
But thats not what you asked. Yes, light beer is piss water but you cant have i both ways. I would rather have a decent micro-brewed or import beer than some watery icky beer.
Which has nothing to do with your question. I prefer Brooklyn Brown Ale which tastes great and is going to be higher in calories. I would rather have good beer less often.
Yup. It’s a matter of taste. Some folks have none. : ) Martha H. 178/173/130

Looked at my Coors Light in the fridge last night – no nutrition/calorie info on the bottle at all.

I do know that the micro brews like Hefeweizen have more calories than typical budweiser.
Yes that’s true, and they also have more taste too. I’d rather use up a few more calories and perhaps have beer less often than have lousy beer. One of the things I’m learning is that it is the quality of the food we eat. Life is too short for lousy tasting food. : ) Martha H.

The story goes: the FDA was afraid people would believe that beer was nutritional if it had nutritional information.
So, what are you trying to say? That beer isn’t nutritious???
Response:
Look on the bottle. Law requires they list calories, carbs, etc.
Actually, in the United Stated the FDA has only recently allowed brewers to put nutritional information on beer. The story goes: the FDA was afraid people would believe that beer was nutritional if it had nutritional information. Anyway a good web site that lists the calories in many commercial beers is: http://brewery.org/brewery/library/AlClbinger.html Keep in mind the kilocalorie content in the right hand column is for 100ml. A 12 oz bottle/can contains 355ml, so the number you see needs to be multiplied by 3.55 Tim

– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – No they don’t. I drink Coors Light on occasion, and it doesn’t list any nutritional info on the label – only alcohol %. However, lite beer tends to be around 100 calories per 12oz, and 200-250 for regular beer. Nope, 12 oz of beer usually has less than that. For Spaten, (one of my personal favs) it’s 160 cals for 12 oz. Now, a beer now and then will not hurt you. It’s when one turns into three and four and….. see…. http://www.spatenusa.com/3_products/3_4_beer_health/index.htm Martha H.

Check CalorieKing.com Beer varies greatly depending on brand and whether it’s Lite or Regular. Melissa
