Save Maritime Hall!
Question:
No it’s not. Oakland is all about the "yo waz up, jump up and down" crap. Fuck Oakland. Besides, there are those of us who don’t have cars and don’t want to own them.
Where do you think all the metalheads and underground people that can’t afford SF are going to move? There’s always BART.

BART stops running at midnight. Since when are shows over that early? Besides, Oakland sucks. Ever wear your black metal gear in West Oakland? Want to die soon? I hate Oakland. And, if you actually think they’ll be a metal club opening in Oakland soon, you’re very naive and were never around when the Omni was open and when it closed. You’re probably too young to remember the neighbors closed the Omni…didn’t like that loud metal white boy stuff….
Response:
Time to move these shows out of SF. the city sucks anyway. Leave it for the yuppies. It’s all about Oakland.

Both Lucifer’s Hammer (21 and over) and Cocodrie (sometimes all ages) are great clubs run by cool people. And yes, the Maritime have been known to be assholes, but we all lose when a club closes, expecially where the rents are higher than a rich old lady’s facelift line. We all lose because there’s no way another club will open in its place. And yes, it’s a bitch sometimes, but isn’t it better to have a place where Morbid Angel will play than not? If a band is too big for Lucifer’s Hammer or Cocodrie, where will they go? I’m sick of missing out on good shows. This has to stop!

– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Due to an intolerance by San Francisco cops, who would rather have the entire city transformed into a yuppie playground, the SFPD is placing a 180-day suspension on Maritime Hall. What does this mean? This means no shows at all there for 6 months! And, who knows if it will reopen once that’s lifted. This means there will be only TWO clubs supporting metal in San Francisco. Good. No more overpriced shows with lousy sound and 30 minute lines at the bar. This place sucks and it would be better if the Cocodrie and Lucifers Hammer got some of these "big" shows. Not to mention the management are total douchebags. OK, then you’d rather not have then play in the Bay Area at all, huh? because many of those bands are too big to play at Cocodrie or Lucifer’s Hammer. And btw, Lucifer’s Hammer beers are more expensive than Cocodrie or Maritime.

And besides, if you HAVE to drink at the venue just go across the street and hang out with the winos BEFORE the show. You have two!?!? Lucky bastards! We just lost Big Shots and Cheerleaders in Sacramento, leaving us with only Bojangles. It’s a war against music here! Send more troops! Sure, the dot.com yuppies will open all the jazz clubs, micro breweries and coffee shops they want, but we won’t have the supporters of metal. live in San Francisco, the email will help. Spread the word…FUCK YUPPIES!!!!

There are dozens of micro breweries popping up all over town….they’re filled to the brim with yuppies. Sure, some of the older, more established micros are cool, but the new ones are magnets for assholes.
