Question:

The Grand Wazoo (yes, that his actual title) of Houston’s Foam Rangers says… And of course, Sam Adams Double Bock is affectionately known as Litigator. Hey, c’mon Steve, why insult us litagators by associating us with the wares of Mr. Jim "drink my great-grandfather’s recipe that I paid Jim Owades mucho dinero to develop" Koch? Hey. Wasn’t that you I saw wearing the "Scam At’ems Lawsuit Lager" t-shirt?

Touche.  And I’m working on my next creation in that genre, the "Scam At’ems Money Porter."  [begin whiny nasal voice] "We hand-craft this beer [in contract mega-breweries] acccording to our traditions [we hire other people to design it for us].  Actually, we don’t really brew the beer, we just file repeating Intent to Use Designations with the Patent and Trademark Office, and then wait to sue someone who uses any name that’s close to it.  Hence our name — "Money Porter." " Oh well . . . .

Dear Beer People,    I can’t find Spaten Dark for sale in California. All there is in a dark Spaten is Optimator. Are they the same? I thought Spaten Dark was a Munich Dunkel and Optimator was an extra strong Bock. The local distributor says Dark’s name was changed to Optimator, but many Brewpubs list Dark on their menus (on the web).                                           Thirsty in Marin                                           Mark Kapner
