Beer hunting in the Caribbean
Question:
Being as I’m off to the islands this fall, I thought I’d see if there is any beer hunting to be done. I’m cruising to SanJuan, St. Martin, and St. Thomas. Are there any breweries or brew pubs or just good beer to be on the lookout for? — Mac Homebrewer and tinker by choice, Computer geek by trade.
Response:
As far as the beer goes in San Juan, mos of the locally produced stuff is rather weak and more suited to the "light" beer drinker. The Guinness that is exported into the Caribbean is pretty tasty and superior to what we get here in the states. In other words nothing very exciting there as far as beer goes.Let me know if you find anything interesting.
Response:
When we were in Nassau several years ago, we found a great beer called Kalik or Kalick (can’t remember how to spell it , because it’s been so long ) We have been trying to find it in the States , but dead end. It has a great flavor – good body, but not too heavy . If anyone knows where this can be found in the states please let me know !!!!! E- mail me at
Response:
Mac, I’ll be in Nassau and Freeport next month. If anyone replies, pass along the info to me. I will also check things out down there and report when I return. Thanks, Mike
