Brewpubs in Brussels/Amsterdam?
Question:
Brewpubs in Brussels/Amsterdam or in Bruge,Ghent?
Brouwerij ‘t Ij in Amsterdam is a great (I would even say the very best) brewpub with phantastic beer. They always have Dubbel, Tripel, Barleywine, Pils on Tap plus a few seasonal brews. All are very good. My favourites are the Zatte (tripel) and the Columbus (barleywine). On Friday afternoons, they offer a free (AFAIK) brewery tour. Gregor

I have to second that – definitely hit Brouwerij ‘t Ij. Pretty easy to spot as it’s in an old windmill. Those beers are amazing. Excellent tour as well. When I was there (2001) Tone was the guy to see. Nice guy. He also ran the Bier Koenig (sp?) a few blocks away. They had a pretty good selection of beers from around the world (emphasis on Europe). He’s also keen on trading, so bring some of your favorites. Maximillian’s was about 2 blocks, umm, north I think, of ‘t Ij. Pretty standard brass, wood, hop vine laden brewpub, but good beer as well. Pick up the Beer Drinkers Guide to Amsterdam. Only about $6 and really helps with good reviews of breweries, brewpubs, and pubs with good beer selections. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Brewpubs in Brussels/Amsterdam or in Bruge,Ghent? Never mind about brewpubs, the beer-lover’s Mecca in Amsterdam is "In de Wildeman". It’s an absolute gem in the middle of Amsterdam, a short walk from Centraal Station, but it’s an oasis apart from the British lager louts and red-light-district tourists. Fantastic range of beers. http://www.indewildeman.nl/indexe.html This site has details on breweries in Belgium: http://www.belgianstyle.com/mmguide/locate/locate01.html ben

Not a brew pub, but there is a small pub off the main square in Bruge that has a menu of 300 beers. Very quaint and local.

In Amsterdam, though not a brewpub go to Gollem and I second In de Wildeman. They have about 800 beers between them. Dave – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Brewpubs in Brussels/Amsterdam or in Bruge,Ghent? Thanks
